Job Summary:


The Pediatric LPN will provide direct patient care to children requiring tracheostomy, ventilator support, and G-J tube feeding in a home health, hospital, or clinical setting. The nurse will work closely with registered nurses (RNs), physicians, and respiratory therapists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Monitor and manage tracheostomy and ventilator equipment, ensuring proper function and patient safety.

  • Perform suctioning, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance techniques as needed.

  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders.

  • Manage G-J tube feedings, including formula administration, flushing, and troubleshooting complications.

  • Assess and document patient condition, including vital signs, respiratory status, and nutritional intake.

  • Educate and support families on trach, ventilator, and G-J tube care, emergency procedures, and daily management.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.

  • Respond to emergencies, including trach dislodgement, ventilator alarms, and G-J tube complications.

  • Maintain infection control standards and ensure a safe environment for the patient.

Qualifications:


  • Valid LPN license in the state of practice.

  • Experience with pediatric trach, ventilator, and G-J tube care (preferred, but training may be provided).

  • CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.

  • Excellent communication and family education skills.
