POSITION SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to residents, administering medications and treatments, monitoring resident condition, and supporting the care team to ensure residents receive safe, accurate, and compassionate care in accordance with facility policies, state regulations, and resident care plans.

WORKING HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

COMPENSATION: Annually $32,000 ($2,666.67/month, plus location pay)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer medications and other prescribed treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility policy

  • Take and record vital signs and monitor residents for changes in condition

  • Assist with development and implementation of resident care plan activities

  • Observe residents' physical condition and behavior and report changes to licensed nursing and medical staff

  • Participate in rehabilitation activities, including ambulation and resident transfers

  • Communicate with physicians, residents, and families; educate residents and families on care and treatment

  • Escort or coordinate residents' offsite appointments

  • Mentor and provide clinical guidance to Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)

  • Maintain accurate documentation of care provided in accordance with facility standards

  • Follow infection control procedures, including proper hand hygiene and use of PPE

  • Support resident rights, privacy, and confidentiality at all times

  • Work collaboratively with nursing staff, therapy services, physicians, and other departments

  • Participate in required training, in-services, and competency evaluations

  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certificate from an Approved School of Nursing

  • Current, active Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Mississippi

  • 0–4 years of experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and reposition residents (with or without assistance)

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods

  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a licensed nursing facility providing 24-hour resident care. The LPN works in resident care areas, including resident rooms, nursing units, dining areas, and common spaces. Requires frequent interaction with residents who may have physical limitations, cognitive impairments, behavioral challenges, and/or chronic medical conditions. May be exposed to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and varying levels of noise. Must follow strict infection control, safety, and emergency procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe resident handling techniques, and compliance with OSHA, CMS, and state regulatory requirements. Staff must be able to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies, including resident falls, medical events, or facility-wide incidents.
