About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, detail‑oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will support the ophthalmologist during patient care, assist with clinical procedures, and help maintain smooth clinic operations. Ophthalmic experience is a plus—but if you’re an LPN eager to learn a specialty, we are happy to train you.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms, sanitize and restock equipment and supplies
- Assist the ophthalmologist with patient examinations and minor procedures
- Administer prescribed ophthalmic medications (including fluorescein) under supervision
- Perform preliminary vision tests, collect patient history, and accurately document findings
- Conduct venipuncture and collect specimens (phlebotomy experience preferred)
- Assist with IV starts if certified in IV therapy
- Provide patient education regarding eye care, treatments, and follow‑up instructions
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and report any adverse reactions
- Support clinic flow and contribute to a positive patient experience
Qualifications
- Active Florida LPN license (required)
- Phlebotomy skills or willingness to obtain certification (required)
- IV Therapy Certification (required)
- Prior experience in ophthalmology, eye care, or outpatient specialty clinics is a plus—but not required
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with both providers and patients
- High attention to detail, professionalism, and a compassionate approach to care
- Comfortable learning new clinical skills and working in a fast-paced environment
