How youll contribute
As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Under the direction of an RN or Post Acute Charge Nurse, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN. • Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. • Documents patient care given. • Assists RN with development of plan of care. • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. • Monitors, documents, and communicates patients status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families. • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Minimum Education
Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.
Required Skills
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 30 days of hire. • LPN License for the State of Tennessee.

Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services supported by a qualified and diverse medical staff. Key services include a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a 12-bed Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, and a 12-bed Acute Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit. The facility also features a Skilled Nursing Unit, Sleep Lab, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, five Operating Rooms, and two Endoscopy Suites. Diagnostic imaging services include MRI, CT, PET/CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and X-ray. The hospitals 13-bay Emergency Department sees more than 15,000 patient visits annually.
Highpoint Health - Sewanee with Ascension Saint Thomas, located on the campus of the University of the South, is a 41-bed facility offering 21 general acute care beds and 20 skilled nursing beds. It includes a 4-bay Emergency Department that treats more than 5,000 patients each year. Known for its individualized care and strong connection to the community, the Sewanee campus provides high-quality healthcare in a setting defined by collaboration, compassion, and service.
