As a busy specialty clinic focused on helping patients manage acute and chronic pain, we are seeking a caring, organized, and energetic professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced setting and is passionate about making a positive impact on patients' lives.Shift: 1stSchedule: 8a-5pHours per week: 32 hours per weekBenefits Status: Benefits EligibleDepartment: NorthPointe Pain ManagementIn this role, the Licensed Practical Nurse supports providers and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care within a busy pain management practice. Responsibilities include rooming patients; obtaining and documenting medical histories, vital signs, and other pertinent patient information; monitoring patient flow; returning patient phone calls; administering medications as directed; assisting with diagnostic procedures and treatments; maintaining accurate medical records; stocking exam rooms; and responding appropriately during medical emergencies.Additional duties include assisting with scheduling appointments, obtaining prior authorizations and pre-certifications, processing medication refill requests according to established protocols, assisting with a variety of clinical functions, ordering and maintaining supplies, cleaning and preparing exam rooms, and completing patient-related paperwork, including FMLA, short-term disability, and long-term disability forms. The Licensed Practical Nurse serves as an important member of the care team, helping to ensure efficient clinic operations and an exceptional patient experience.The Licensed Practical Nurse will:Prepare patient documentation and medical records in advance of appointments.Escort patients to examination rooms, obtain and document vital signs, and update medical records, including medical history, chief complaint, current medications, allergies, smoking status, pain assessment, immunization status, and required quality and regulatory data.Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.Ensure required consents are completed, signed, and dated prior to procedures, and participate in procedural "time-outs" with the Physician/Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) as appropriate.Assist Physicians/LIPs with examinations and procedures.Administer medications as ordered by the Physician/LIP and accurately document administration in the medical record.Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records.Receive and manage telephone calls to the department and assist with call triage under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional.Assist Physicians/LIPs in educating patients and their families regarding care plans, treatments, and follow-up instructions.Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and effectiveness when scheduling patient appointments.Promote patient safety while handling, transporting, and administering medications and while protecting patients from hazards, falls, and potential disease exposure.Assess and address the basic physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and their families.Adhere to established infection prevention and control policies and procedures.Demonstrate proficiency in using computer systems and software applications relevant to the department.Perform unit-specific responsibilities in accordance with established competency requirements.Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives.Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available and appropriately stocked.Complete assigned duties accurately and within established timeframes.Job Requirements:Graduate of accredited school of nursing.Current state of Illinois LPN licensure.Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hire.Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hireStrong critical thinking abilitiesRequires excellent verbal and written communication and counseling skillsTwo years clinical experience desirablePreferred Experience with Electronic Medical Records and prior experience in Pain Management.Apply today to join our team!
