A nonprofit organization in New York City is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a homeless shelter setting in Midtown Manhattan. This role provides on-site nursing support, medication management, and direct resident care in a fast-paced transitional housing environment.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Part-time
- Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
- Hours: 8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm
- Setting: Homeless shelter
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site nursing services under the direction of the Nurse Manager
- Manage medication systems, including medication storage, pill packing, refills, and records for self-administering clients
- Administer medications, injections, treatments, and provider-ordered procedures
- Perform nursing screenings, obtain vital signs, and document care in electronic medical records
- Monitor client responses, maintain controlled substance logs, and support resident education on medication adherence
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of Clinical Nursing experience in a Psychiatric, Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Substance Use, or Primary Care setting
- Graduate of a Practical Nursing program
- Active NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- BLS certification
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records documentation
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff at all levels
