Position Overview
We are seeking a Licensed Psychologist to provide comprehensive psychological services within a secure institutional and detention environment in Leavenworth, Kansas. This is a fully onsite position supporting a diverse adult population, including both male and female individuals.
The Licensed Psychologist will provide clinical assessment, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, and ongoing psychological care. The position works closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare and support team to coordinate treatment and promote continuity of mental health services.
The role reports to the Health Services Administrator. Travel is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological screenings and comprehensive assessments using clinical interviews, available records, and other relevant information.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized psychological treatment plans based on clinical needs and level of functioning.
- Provide evidence-based counseling and psychological interventions for individuals on an assigned caseload.
- Evaluate individuals experiencing behavioral or mental health crises and provide appropriate counseling, assessment, and de-escalation interventions.
- Conduct routine clinical rounds in segregation, restricted housing, or other specialized housing areas to evaluate adjustment, psychological status, and treatment needs.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, mental health professionals, educational personnel, chaplaincy, security staff, and other appropriate team members.
- Communicate relevant clinical information to support coordinated treatment and continuity of care.
- Evaluate changes in behavior or mental health status and help identify factors contributing to behavioral escalation.
- Apply established psychological counseling theories, assessment practices, and therapeutic techniques in an institutional environment.
- Coordinate psychological services and provide clinical direction as appropriate to personnel involved in delivering mental health care.
- Maintain professional standards and comply with applicable clinical, regulatory, and institutional requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in Kansas.
- At least two years of clinical experience.
- At least one year of experience in a comparable psychology position.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in Leavenworth, Kansas.
- Comfortable providing psychological services within a secure detention/institutional environment serving both male and female individuals.

- Previous experience working in a correctional, detention, or similar secure institutional setting.
