San Bernardino County is recruiting for Licensed Vocational Nurses II - Corrections who assist physicians, registered nurses and other health specialists in the treatment and care of patients in an adult population (Sheriffs) or juvenile/youth population (Probation) locked correctional facility.

Duties include providing basic nursing care; collecting vital signs, blood, and specimens; and administering medications as directed.

The list established by this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies in the Sheriffs (adult population) and Probation (youth population) departments as they occur while the list remains active.

Sheriffs Department positions are for day, evening and night shifts with an immediate need in the High Desert.

The Probation department consist of variable shifts, which include days and evenings.

Summary of Benefits Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT -------------------------

Certification: Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support certification.

Shift: Must be available for rotating shift work, including weekends and holidays, and may be required to assist after normal duty hours in emergency situations and may involve hostile or volatile wards and inmates.

Night shift differential and overtime compensation are available.

Background: Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony and, upon appointment, must successfully pass a thorough background investigation, including a fingerprint check and polygraph.

Physical Demands: Ability to perform for extended periods of time: balancing, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, standing, stooping, turning, twisting; and walking long distances both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions; hand and finger dexterity in both hands; ability to manipulate heavy duty security locks and doors; reaching or working above and below shoulder level; normal vision, including color discrimination; normal hearing; and carrying up to 10 pounds.

NOTE: Incumbents will be required to respond immediately to emergencies while on duty which may involve hostile and volatile wards and inmates.

Working Conditions: Working conditions involve exposure to hazardous and infectious materials and communicable diseases.

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

Minimum Requirements -------------------

Candidates must possess ALL of the following:

License: Must possess and maintain a current Licensed Vocational Nurse license with the State of California.

Experience: One (1) year of recent (within the last five (5) years) full-time experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Certification: Must produce and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of hire.
