Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) • Current valid California State License as a Licensed Vocational Nurse • Valid First Aid and CPR Certification • Ability to obtain a First Aid and CPR Instructor Certification within one (1) year of hire • Valid CA driver s license • Any combination equivalent to one (1) year of related experience; public school experience preferred. Brief Description of Position: • Perform specialized health care services for students including but not limited to blood sugar testing, medication administration, catheterizations, drip and tube feeding administration. • Travel to various school sites within the district and perform a wide variety of nursing duties. • Assess illnesses and injuries and apply first aid as needed. • Respond to emergencies, evaluated condition of students and provide information to staff, students and parents regarding safety issues. • Operate specialized medical equipment and instruments in the assessment and treatment of individuals. • Assess and assist students with seizures; check for head lice, skin abnormalities and other conditions. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
