    Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
    Department: Medical-Surgical / Emergency / Clinical Support Services
    Reports to: Clinical Leaders


    Position Summary

    The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides exceptional, patient-centered care across multiple hospital units, including Medical-Surgical, Emergency Services., and Surgical Services. This role encompasses direct nursing care as well as cross-functional responsibilities in laboratory and hospital technician support. The LVN serves as a vital part of the interdisciplinary team, ensuring efficient delivery of care and operational excellence throughout the facility.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver compassionate, competent nursing care to patients in Med-Surg and Emergency, and Surgical Services settings, following physician orders and established protocols.
    • Assist with patient assessments, treatments, IV therapy, and medication administration according to Texas LVN scope of practice.
    • Support emergency interventions and stabilization procedures in coordination with RNs and physicians.
    • Perform basic laboratory functions including specimen collection, labeling, processing, and maintaining quality and safety standards.
    • Collaborate with laboratory leadership to ensure timely and accurate testing procedures and documentation.
    • Fulfill hospital technician responsibilities such as vital sign monitoring, EKGs, patient transport, and maintaining medical supplies and equipment.
    • Accurately document all care and procedures in the electronic health record (EHR).
    • Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and teamwork in all aspects of patient care and hospital support.
    • Comply with all hospital policies, infection control practices, and state and federal regulations.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Current Texas LVN license is in good standing.
    • BLS, ACLSc, PALS certifications required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
    • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience preferred; cross-training in Med-Surg, ER, or lab environment beneficial.
    • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to transition between care areas smoothly.
    • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and documentation skills.
