Primary Purpose
Provide direct nursing care and health services to students under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and in accordance with Texas Board of Nursing regulations, district policies, physician orders, and state and federal requirements. Promote student health and wellness to support academic success and maintain a safe school environment.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
Current Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Completion of required continuing education to maintain licensure.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of basic nursing practices and procedures.
Knowledge of childhood illnesses, communicable diseases, and emergency medical care.
Ability to administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and district protocols.
Ability to maintain accurate health records and documentation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, staff, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
Proficiency in electronic health record systems and basic computer applications.
Experience
Previous nursing experience preferred.
Experience working with school-aged children preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Student Health Services
Provide direct nursing care to students as delegated and supervised by a Registered Nurse.
Assess and respond to student health concerns, illnesses, and injuries.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to physician orders and district procedures.
Monitor students with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, seizures, allergies, and other medically complex needs.
Assist with specialized health procedures as directed by a Registered Nurse.
Provide first aid and emergency care as needed.
Health Monitoring and Documentation
Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in compliance with FERPA, HIPAA (where applicable), and district requirements.
Document medications administered, treatments provided, and student visits to the clinic.
Monitor immunization records and assist with compliance efforts.
Report communicable diseases and health concerns according to state and local guidelines.
Collaboration and Communication
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns, medications, and care plans.
Collaborate with school staff to support students'' health needs and accommodations.
Assist in implementing Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), Section 504 Plans, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as appropriate.
Coordinate with healthcare providers and community agencies regarding student care.
Health Education and Prevention
Promote health and wellness through education and preventive health measures.
Assist in identifying health and safety concerns on campus.
Support district health initiatives and emergency preparedness efforts.
Compliance and Professional Responsibilities
Comply with all district policies, Texas Board of Nursing regulations, and applicable federal and state laws.
Participate in required training and professional development activities.
Maintain professional licensure and certifications.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising Registered Nurse, Director of Health Services, or Principal.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and administrative regulations.
Terms of Employment
Employment is contingent upon maintaining a valid Texas LVN license and meeting all district requirements, including criminal history background checks and required certifications.
