Who You Are:
We are seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as a Life Enrichment (Activities) Coordinator Certified ACT Professional - ACTCA. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationship with staff and residents. The right candidate will always strive to do the best job possible, to be creative and to work towards accomplishing facility goals.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, the Life Enrichment Coordinator will develop, organize and coordinate activities, wellness programs, volunteer programs, transportation of residents and available resources to provide the highest quality of life for the residents. This should be done through effective communication.
Accountabilities:
Essential Job Functions:
Oversees and approves all Health Center activities and programs, including Wellness, Volunteers and Communications.
Maintains effective communications and working relations with all staff/departments, residents, families, and the public.
Prepares and keeps all necessary records, including:
Resident attendance
Monthly calendars (prepared in advance) based on resident input, assessments and interests
Budget and inventory records
Resident Council minutes and response forms
Volunteer Records
Other records deemed necessary
Meeting minutes as assigned
Maintains compliance with community policies and procedures concerning the Activities program.
Supervises coordinators, assistant(s) and volunteers; coordinate recruitment, orientation, training, supervision, evaluation and recognition efforts.
Coordinates the Activity program with all other departments in the community.
Secure entertainment, program leaders, volunteers, materials, equipment and transportation (as necessary) well in advance of scheduled dates.
Participates in the in-service training program in the community. This includes presenting sessions as well as attending. Attend and contribute to staff meetings, as required by the community, including department head meetings.
Attends and provides input at meetings.
Attends workshops or educational programs which relate to activity programming and/or professional certification.
Evaluates effectiveness of activity programs in terms of resident outcome and participation.
Demonstrates emotional maturity (interpersonal relations with staff, residents, families, volunteers, safety and emergency decisions, etc.).
Maintains a safe activity environment through procurement, preventive maintenance, cleaning, storage of supplies and equipment.
Coordinates community sponsored travel/trips/outings.
Schedules staffing hours to ensure appropriate program coverage, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Demonstrates self as a leader capable of delegating work load.
Maintain work area and keep the department in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrates the community hospitality promises towards residents, families, associates and vendors.
Act as facilitator to the Resident Council.
Facilitates promotion of activity programs through newsletters and other appropriate media.
Coordinates the preparation of monthly bulletin boards and seasonal decorations.

Qualifications
Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
Preferably has an undergraduate degree in a related field and is nationally certified as an Activities Professional.
Position requires a minimum of two (2) years experience in the last five (5) years.
Has physical stamina, mental abilities, and emotional stability to handle high job stress coordinate and conduct activities; and supervise others.
Possesses good verbal and written communication skills, with functional literacy in English necessary.
Possesses good interpersonal skills, including group dynamics and teamwork.
Demonstrates genuine liking and respect of elderly.
Conveys cheerfulness, positive attitude, patience and ability to motivate people.
Possesses current driver license and good driving record.

Mental & Physical Requirements
Requires ability to stand and walk short and long distances for extended periods of time.
Requires reaching above, below and at shoulder level.
For the safety of associates and residents, the associate is required to follow the Longhorn Village "No-Lift Policy". In all resident care situations, staff must utilize mechanical lifting devices (i.e. CAMEL equipment, Hoyer lift, etc.) and avoid manual lifting or handling of our residents. Training will be provided to all associates that will use the mechanical lifting devices at Longhorn Village. Associate must be able to work in a 24 hour operation.
Job's Normal Work Environment:
Works in clean, well lighted and well-ventilated community.
Work environment involves slight physical risks that require following basic safety precautions (wearing isolation garb, as needed.)

This position requires the limited applications of manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination necessary for the handling and operation of common activities materials.
The following types of supplies and equipment are typically used to perform the job: computer, craft supplies, games, reading materials.
