Are You the Expert We’re Looking For?

Do you thrive on bringing complex fire alarm systems to life—then keeping them performing at their best? If you enjoy solving tough technical problems, mentoring helpers on-site, and communicating clearly with customers, this role is for you.

What You’ll Tackle

  • Interpret and apply blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, and schematics.
  • Oversee and inspect installations to align with customer requirements.
  • Complete end-to-end fire alarm system work: engineering/technical review, cable pulls, device mounting, wiring of devices and control panels, programming, and functional testing.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform diverse installation tasks.
  • Stay current on new products, upgrades, and software related to fire and security platforms.
  • Triage and diagnose service issues; troubleshoot efficiently and effectively.
  • Deliver clear, cost-conscious recommendations to return systems to full operation.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs.
  • Maintain precise records: timesheets, service/installation tickets, and inventory.
  • Adhere 100% to company and customer safety programs.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Your Background

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with testing, maintenance, and service of fire alarm systems.
  • Experience as an apprentice electrician or low-voltage technician; completed installs of fire alarm, CCTV components, and access control.
  • Comfort with basic software applications, communications technologies, and some lock hardware.
  • Leadership to guide installation assistants in core tasks.
  • Proven customer service skills; excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication.
  • Plus: Exposure to access control systems and CCTV.

Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma (minimum) and NICET certification.
  • Basic English literacy and solid basic math skills.
  • Ability to read CAD-generated prints, building blueprints, and riser diagrams.
  • Understanding of basic electronics/electrical theory (formal training preferred).
  • Proficient PC user with aptitude in simple engineering and construction concepts.
  • Preferred: Factory training.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes (NICET, NFPA, etc.); basic computer skills.

Tools for Success

  • Responsible, self-motivated, organized, and personable.
  • Superior customer service for internal and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across diverse teams.
  • MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook proficiency.
  • Strong planning and execution to meet defined due dates.
  • Resilience in stressful situations; capable of interpreting general business documentation.

Accountability & Safety

You will report to the Project Manager and maintain secondary accountability to other management team members, employees, and customers. Full compliance with all company and customer safety programs is required.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; frequent reaching, grasping, and carrying.
  • Moderate noise environments; primarily indoors with occasional outdoor work subject to seasonal temperatures.
