Position Summary
Assists in planning, organizing, monitoring, and conducting Life Safety (LS) programs and activities at Orlando Health.
Essential Functions
• Participate in conducting, planning, and performance of life safety (LS) rounds of Orlando Health facilities to assess compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
• Assists with all external agency Life Safety surveys at hospital buildings to include, but not limited to, Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), Fire Marshal/Inspector, and the organizations insurance carrier, etc.
• Researches and maintains knowledge base current with life safety standards and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to Orlando Health.
• Provides assistance when needed to organization departments with concerns or issues related to life safety.
• Participate in the development and implementation of EOC and LS programs.
• Varied responsibility with pre-construction risk assessments deemed necessary by project scope.
• Assists with interim life safety measures (ILSM) activities for affected projects, including site visits, review of hazard surveillance activities, and communications to affected parties.
• May participate in contractor education performed as required for all contracted vendors in scope.
• May be responsible to coordinate and conduct fire drills and fire safety training after fire drills for Orlando Health team members.
• Responsibility to oversee, assess, manage, and document vendor reports related to EOC and/or LS including but not limited to, fire alarm, suppression, detection, and medical gas.
• Participates in performance improvement (PI) activities related to LS and EOC including data analysis, identification, and monitoring of indicators as needed.
• Assists with creation/review of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Assists in the preparation of compliance documentation as requested by department leadership to prepare for and answer regulatory surveys.
• Works cooperatively with team members and leadership to optimize the performance of EOC and LS programs.
• Performs all other tasks as assigned by the Facility Manager.
• Maintainsreasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
• Maintains professional discipline in the department and adherence to appropriate policies and procedures of the department.
• Stays informed of evolving technology, new standards and regulations related to safety and makes appropriate recommendations to implement improvements.
Education/Training
Trade, vocational school graduate, or building trades apprenticeship and two (2) years of directly related work experience. An Associate’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section) may substitute.
Licensure/Certification
None.
Experience
Three (3) years of work experience in safety, building or facility maintenance.
