Position Title: Life Skills Paraprofessional
Campus: Vernon High School
Primary Purpose:
Assist the Life Skills teacher in providing instructional support and personal care to students with disabilities. Help create a positive, structured learning environment that supports student growth, independence, and success.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must meet requirements for Educational Aide certification
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred
- Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the teacher with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide instructional support in small group and one-on-one settings
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
- Assist students with daily living skills, including personal care if needed
- Support students during transitions, including arrival, dismissal, and movement throughout campus
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources as directed
- Maintain confidentiality of student information
- Perform other duties as assigned
Working Conditions:
- May involve lifting, positioning, or assisting students with mobility
- Work in a classroom setting with students who may have varying physical and behavioral needs
