Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: Less than high school education.

 

 

Experience: No related experience or training required. Previous lifeguarding experience a plus.

 

 

Knowledge of: Aquatic activities; lifeguarding; CPR and first aid application; water safety practices and procedures.

 

 

Skill in: Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing demonstrating strong swimming abilities; providing tactful customer service.

 

 

Licenses and Certifications:

 

Must obtain or possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification (required training classes for position will be provided by and must be taken though The Woodlands Township).

Reliable transportation to work is required. Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license, preferred.

Specific to Rob Fleming Aquatic Center staff:

Must obtain or possess a valid American Red Cross Waterpark Certification (required training classes for position will be provided by and must be taken through The Woodlands Township).

 

Scheduling Demands:

 

Must attend in-service training weekly and pass audits conducted by the Aquatics Leadership staff.

Due to the seasonal nature of this role, Lifeguards must be available for a minimum of 25 hours per week. Lifeguarding staff are generally scheduled two (2) days off per week, with fourteen (14) additional unpaid days off available for the entire season (Memorial Day through Labor Day).

 

Age Requirement: Must be at least 16 years of age by July 1, 2026. 

 

 

Pre-employment Requirements: Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check, and Social Security Number verification check.

 

 

Safety-Sensitive: This position is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.
