The Role

\n

\n

We’re building our roster for Lifeguard positions supporting Kirtland AFB’s indoor pool, an on-site role responsible for the safety of everyone in and around the water. You’ll monitor swimmers and the surrounding deck, enforce facility rules, and be ready to respond immediately and effectively if something goes wrong.

\n

\n

Day to day, that means active surveillance of the pool and deck, water rescues when needed, administering first aid and CPR, and keeping a constant, practiced eye on everything happening around you. You’ll also handle routine safety equipment checks, help keep the facility organized, and communicate clearly with patrons about the rules that keep the space safe. You’ll work closely with facility staff and management to make sure the environment stays consistent, professional, and welcoming. Every session, every day.

What We’re Looking For

\n

\n

• Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization (American Red Cross or equivalent), plus current CPR/AED and First Aid certification

\n

• Strong water safety and rescue skills, confident, correct use of rescue equipment and the ability to maintain continuous surveillance without losing focus

\n

• Clear communication and people skills, you can give instructions, enforce rules respectfully, and work professionally with a wide range of patrons and teammates

\n

• Sharp attention to detail and sound judgment, you notice hazards before they become problems, stay calm under pressure, and follow protocol even when it’s routine

\n

• The physical capability to perform lifeguard duties (swimming, lifting, extended standing) and to pass periodic skills and fitness assessments

\n

• Reliability above all, punctuality, schedule adherence, and willingness to work weekends or holidays as the schedule requires

\n

• Prior lifeguard or aquatic facility experience preferred; government or commercial facility experience is a plus

\n

Anticipated Pay

\n

\n

• Base wage: $18.00–$21.00 per hour

\n

• Plus Service Contract Act health & welfare fringe: $5.42 per hour, paid in addition to base wage as cash or equivalent benefits

\n

• Anticipated total: $23.42–$26.42 per hour

\n

\n

This reflects our current planning estimate. Final base wage and fringe will follow the applicable DOL wage determination (WD 15-5443) if it requires more.
