As Lifeguard: Protect the safety and well being of each patron using the SUWC aquatic facility. The lifeguard will provide friendly, professional, and safe assistance to all aquatic users. Supervise the activities of swimmers by enforcing rules and regulations. Warn swimmers of improper activities or hazards. Rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning and provide rescue breathing, CPR and First Aid. Notify the Aquatic Coordinator of any accidents, rescues, or other pertinent information. Successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics. Attend scheduled in-service training. Maintain attendance and activity record and complete required reports. Assist in cleaning and maintaining the pool and related areas and facilities. As Swim Instructor/Certification Class Instructor: Responsible for planning, coordinating and teaching group and private swimming lessons. Responsible for planning, coordinating and teaching certification courses.

Minimum Qualifications

High School/GED Equivalent

Lifeguarding with CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certification

Water Safety Instructor Certification (for swim lessons), Lifeguard Instructor Certification (for lifeguarding), USA Certified Swim Coach (for coaching)

Necessary skills include:

Knowledge in the field of learn-to-swim, lifeguarding, and/or coaching.

Knowledge to develop and implement fitness regimens and/or swimming progressions.

Knowledge of proper use and care of many types of recreational water equipment.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Analytical skills to identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent logical decisions in terms of health related issues.

Ability to operate a personal computer with the knowledge of basic office software and software used to schedule events and facilities.

Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a goal oriented team.

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse group of individuals.

Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills

1 year experience in development and/or execution of both group and private swim lessons and/or swim team, or other known program

1 year experience working in a high-volume recreational facility with

demonstrated competency in customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Pool Operator

Experience in a similar aquatic setting
