Northwood Club is a premier country club established in 1946 and located in Dallas, Texas. Best known for hosting the 1952 U.S. Open, we have a newly renovated PGA Championship Golf Course, which was named "1 Best Golf Course Renovation" in Avid Golfer Magazine in 2019. The club also has a Distinguished Clubs of the World Emerald Designation for outstanding member service.
Our staff consists of a wide range of professionals who are well recognized in areas of Tennis, Golf, and Culinary. We are currently looking for Lifeguards for the Summer. Our pool will be open starting May 22nd - September 7th. Classification: Seasonal, Hourly, and Non-Exempt. General Purpose: Supervises the safety and cleanliness of the club swimming pool and facilities. Participate in aquatic activities planned by the Head Swim Coach and Events team when needed.
Essential Duties:
• Create a welcoming environment for members and guests at all times. • Monitor check-in desk to insure all members and guests sign in. • Observe all members and guests when in the water to ensure safety. • Maintains equipment inventory and notifies manager when orders equipment and supplies are needed for various programs. • Properly cares for aquatic equipment. • Keeps storage area neat, clean, and all in safe working order. • Enforces club rules of safety and conduct. • Assist in maintaining a fully stocked First Aid Kit. • Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Department Manager. • Observes and participates in safety at all times. • Attends staff meetings and training.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree, GED, or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
May be required to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos to write simple correspondence to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, members, and other associates of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
May be required to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability:
May be required to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands:
Frequently stands and walks, uses hands to feel or handle, reaches with arms and hands, stoops, kneels, crawls, or crouches, talks, or hears. Occasionally sits, climbs, or balances. Frequently lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
Vision Requirements:
Regularly uses close distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. Ability to adjust focus.
Environment:
Noise: Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions, temperatures can be as high as 120 degrees. Noise level is moderate to high.
Certificates and Licenses:
CPR, AED, Lifeguard, and First Aid Certification.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job. Also, the manuals for equipment thats used are in English. Must be able to properly use all equipment and safety devices for the pool.
Normal Work Hours:
Varied to include nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a seasonal position.
