Lifeguard - (Seasonal Temporary) Opportunity

West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and includes a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency. We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents, and adults. Treatment is offered at multiple levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you and answer your questions about treatment options and insurance coverage. The hospital is easily accessible off the Southwest Freeway near the Galleria.

West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Lifeguard to work (Temporary Now-October) and join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. Open 7 days a week and the hours are 9a-3p Mon, Wed, Thurs & Sat, Tues 1p-3p, 10a-3p Fri & Sun with alternating weekends. The Lifeguard will be responsible for ensuring the safety of individuals in and around the pool area by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors. The Lifeguard must be able to enforce and communicate pool policies.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Supervises swimming activities at the West Oaks pool and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
  • Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
  • Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates emergency action plan as required.
  • Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.

Qualifications
  • Education: Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensure/Certification: Required: Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, or equivalent. American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent American Red Cross Standard First Aid, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Required. Minimum of 6 months of lifeguard experience.
