Job Title Lifeguard (Work Study or Student Assistant) Position Summary
Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of our aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains consist surveillance of patrons in the facility
- Acts immediately and appropriately as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
- CPR Certified required
- Current Certificate as a Lifeguard by the American Red Cross
Experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
- Ability to adhere to University & departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits.
