Job Summary

The Biology Program at the University of West Georgia invites applications for a Limited-Term Instructor Position to begin August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective instruction of introductory biology courses and laboratories to biology majors and non-majors. Additional responsibilities will include teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology to pre-nursing and allied health students and engagement in Program activities as needed. A broad understanding of the principles of biology and excellence in oral and written communication are required. The University of West Georgia (http://www.westa.edu) is a D-1 comprehensive regional university of approximately 13,000 students located on a 644-acre wooded campus in Carrollton, GA, with a satellite campus in Newnan, GA. Instructional duties may be assigned to either campus. Therefore, travel may be required.

Responsibilities

1-To teach a minimum of twelve credit hours (4/4 workload) in introductory biology and or Human Anatomy and Physiology per semester. 2- To be available to assist students by offering reasonable and regular office hour opportunities. 3-To manage clear, regular, and engaging communication with enrolled students. 4-To engage in Biology Program activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

Required Education: M.S. or Ph.D. in Biology or related field Required Experience: Minimum of 18 graduate level course credits in Biology or related field

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education: Ph.D. in Biology or related field with teaching experience Preferred Experience: Prior experience in teaching Introductory Biology and/or Human Anatomy and Physiology at the undergraduate level

Proposed Salary

Salary based on education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge: Applicants must have subject matter expertise in Biology content necessary to teach introductory biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology Skills: Applicants must be able to effectively communicate course content to students, deliver course materials through a learning management system, and oversee the safe performance of laboratory experiments by undergraduate students. Abilities: Applicants must have the ability to work with undergraduate students to understand and address their educational needs. Office Environment ¿ Work normally performed in a typical interior work environment. Lifting up to 15lbs
