LIMS Software Developer

Overview

Element is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Developer with strong Java development experience and a working knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our laboratory and enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for leading development of LIMS enhancements backlog:
• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.
• Enhancements backlog may include:
• Business driven net new features/ functionality (i.e., product backlog)
• Automation tools to improve system reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure applications are designed with reliability and scalability in mind.
• Partner with Product Manager and Business Analyst teams to ensure voice of the customer is translated into the development outcomes

Skills / Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field experience.
• Experience working with LIMS platforms (e.g., LabWare, STARLIMS, LabVantage).
• 3+ years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps role.
• Strong proficiency in Java and experience with backend development.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
• Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems and networking.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of laboratory workflows and data management in scientific environments.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
