Line Clearance Worker
Examples of Duties
The Division of Cleveland Public Power is requesting to update the minimum qualifications for the classification of Line Clearance Worker to more accurately reflect the minimum qualifications of the position. The equipment that is used to complete the job requires either a Class B or a Class A Commercial Drivers License. Changing the minimum qualifications to reflect the equipment requirements will allow the Division to attract a larger pool of qualified candidates.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of full-time paid experience as a tree trimmer for a line clearance company trimming trees around high voltage distribution lines required. Must have documented training of line clearance training in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the American National Standards Institute. Valid State of Ohio Class A or B Commercial Driver's License required. Valid State of Ohio Class "A" is preferred. Must be able to work overtime during emergencies and for call outs. Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.

DUTIES:
Under supervision, trims, cuts, and clears trees and underbrush from electrical transmission and distribution lines. Performs temporary repairs to service wires. Locates flares, cones, danger flags, and other warning equipment as required for compliance with state, local, and CPP rules and regulations. Directs and trains employees, as assigned. Performs other job-related duties as required.
