Line Cook

POSITION SUMMARY

Prepares and cooks meals. Cleans and sanitizes the kitchen and dining area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to read and follow recipes
• Cook food according to recipes
• Measure and portion ingredients according to recipes
• Demonstrate food preparation skills to include peeling, cutting, slicing, dicing, mixing, etc.
• Prepare food through blanching, braising, frying, baking, sauté, rethermalizing, etc.
• Follow food safety/ temperature protocols in all aspects of food storage, preparation and presentation in accordance with SERV Safe protocols
• Ability to use and train others on the safe use of various kitchen equipment to include slicers, food processors, cooking equipment, etc.
• Prepare buffet for service in accordance with hot/ cold holding protocols
• Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils and wares in accordance with SERV Safe protocols
• Must be able and willing to follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• SERV Safe Certification required
• SERV Safe Manager preferred
• Two years of previous food service experience required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a clear driving record for the last five years.
• Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
• Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process.
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to work fast-paced environment
