Stereo 41 is a restaurant, bar, and hi-fi listening lounge rooted in Middle Eastern cuisine with Japanese nuance and California sensibility. Our kitchen is driven by precision, creativity, and a dedication to detail — blending tradition with innovation in every dish we serve. 


Position Overview:

As a Line Cook at Stereo 41, you are responsible for executing your station with precision, handling daily mise-en-place, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness. You’ll work closely with the culinary team to prepare, cook, and present dishes with consistency and care. This role demands focus, agility, and a deep respect for ingredients, technique, and teamwork.

•Department: Back of House

•Reports To: Executive Chef or Sous Chef


Key Responsibilities:

•Prepare and maintain daily mise-en-place for your station

•Follow FIFO procedures and properly label, date, and rotate products

•Maintain portion control and minimize food waste

•Execute dishes consistently according to recipes and plating standards

•Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing deliveries

•Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work area and walk-in

•Complete opening, closing, and deep-cleaning duties as assigned

•Uphold all food safety, health department, and kitchen hygiene standards

•Assist with large-scale prep as needed across stations

•Work efficiently in a high-pressure, high-volume environment

•Demonstrate a strong understanding of various cooking techniques, including sautéing, grilling, frying, and vegetable and meat cookery

•Contribute to a positive team culture and kitchen morale


Qualifications:

•Minimum 3 years of professional kitchen experience 

•Proficient in knife skills and fundamental kitchen techniques

•Strong attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness

•Excellent communication and teamwork skills

•Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn and improve

•Food Handler Certification


Physical Requirements

•Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift)

•Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 lbs (e.g., ingredients, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment) as needed to perform essential job functions.

•Ability to climb stairs or ladders occasionally to access storage or prep areas

•Manual dexterity to handle knives, kitchen tools, and operate cooking equipment safely and efficiently

•Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with heat steam, varying noise levels, and temperature changes

•Ability to remain alert, focused, and maintain professional composure during high-volume or extended shifts

•Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as business requires

Compensation:

•$18 - $20 per hour, depending on experience

•Tips paid in addition to hourly wage
