Job Title: Line Cook
Reports To: Chef
Job Summary:
Line cooks are responsible for preparing assigned food items. They must follow the recipes and the portion control guidelines set by Duffy's. Major areas of responsibility include:
Cleaning food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables.
Performing food preparation tasks.
Performing general cleaning activities in the kitchen.
Restocking kitchen supplies, rotating food, and printing the time and date label for food in coolers.
Grilling, cooking, and frying foods.
Coordinating timing of orders so that items served together.
Cooking, plating, and garnishing all menu items.
Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.
Storing food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
Taking and recording temperature of food and food storage areas, such as refrigerators and freezers.
Preparing a variety of foods, such as meats, vegetables, or desserts, according to guest's orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
Packaging take-out foods.
Stocking storage areas and refrigerators.
Carrying food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
Distributing food to servers to serve to guests.
Removing trash and cleaning kitchen garbage containers.
Receiving and storing food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, and other storage areas.
Weighing or measuring ingredients.
Informing supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low, and ordering needed items.
Assisting other kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and providing with needed items.
Using manual or electric appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foods.
Keeping records of the quantities of food wasted or thrown away.
Sweeping and mopping kitchen floor.
Maintaining Food Handler's Certification.
Maintaining a positive and professional approach to coworkers and customers.
