Description

We are seeking a skilled Linux HPC System Administrator to support and optimize enterprise High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments used for Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) workloads. In this remote role, you will be responsible for maintaining Linux-based HPC clusters, managing job scheduling systems, supporting CAE applications, and ensuring high system availability and performance. Job Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Linux (RHEL) HPC clusters and infrastructure.
  • Configure and support HPC job schedulers such as IBM Spectrum LSF, Slurm, or Open PBS.
  • Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot CAE applications including Ansys, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, Nastran, or similar tools.
  • Manage software licensing systems such as FlexLM, FlexNet, or RLM.
     
  • Monitor system performance, optimize resource utilization, and improve cluster efficiency.
  • Perform OS deployment, patching, upgrades, and system automation.
  • Develop and maintain Bash, Shell, or Perl scripts for automation and system administration.
  • Troubleshoot server, storage, and networking issues, including InfiniBand and high-speed Ethernet.
  • Perform system health checks, capacity planning, incident management, and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and change management records.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure reliable and efficient HPC operations.
  • Participate in maintenance activities and provide after-hours support when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of Linux System Administration experience, preferably in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Hands-on experience administering High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters.
  • Experience with HPC job schedulers such as IBM Spectrum LSF, Slurm, Open PBS, or similar.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and supporting CAE applications such as Ansys, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, Nastran, HyperWorks, or STAR-CCM+.
  • Strong scripting skills using Bash, Shell, Perl, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience with OS deployment, patch management, and system automation.
  • Knowledge of software licensing tools including FlexLM, FlexNet, or RLM.
  • Understanding of enterprise server hardware, storage systems, and high-speed networking technologies such as InfiniBand and Ethernet.
  • Experience troubleshooting Linux servers, HPC infrastructure, and engineering applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to support production environments, maintenance windows, and occasional after-hours activities.
