Become a Lion and join the Pride! MSSU is seeking a Lion Pride Marching Band Percussion Coordinator (LPMBPC) to begin in August 2026. The Lion Pride Marching Band Percussion Coordinator facilitates the preparations, exercises, and activities of the Lion Pride Marching Band percussion section. The LPMBPC prepares and directs the unit for independent performance, as well as for performances integrated within the larger marching band.

The Percussion Coordinator will:
design programs that effectively complement and enhance the visual and musical
program.
evaluate members' abilities and assigns student equipment performance accordingly.
work closely with the Director of Bands and the other staff members to develop a
sound program.
attend all rehearsals and performances.
teach program material.
choreograph, arrange, and implement Percussion routine(s), as an integrated
part of the marching band (Field Show, Parade Routine, Stand Tunes, and Cadences).
coordinate the Percussion rehearsal schedule with the full Marching Band.
create rehearsal plans in cooperation with Marching Band Director.
schedule and conduct extra rehearsals for the unit, in addition to the scheduled
marching band rehearsals as needed.
ensure the highest possible level of performance from the Percussion members
through a proper warm-up process, effective preparation, and attention to
individual members.
recruit potential Percussion members while retaining current members.
ensure that the Percussion is properly equipped for rehearsals and performances.
manage all equipment necessary for rehearsals and performances including
maintenance, repair, and acquisition recommendations.
participate in spring semester program planning as needed.
recommend new property purchases within the budget.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma, Masters preferred
Background in marching band percussive performance required.
Experience in composing and choreographing routines for the various Percussion
units required.
Must be available for Band Camp (usually 10 days prior to each Fall semester).
Must attend all rehearsals and performances.
