The Merrimack School District is looking to hire a dynamic, collaborative Literacy Coordinator to lead our school-wide literacy initiatives. Reeds Ferry School (RFS) is a Pre K-4 elementary school of nearly 500 students. We help students develop a positive self-image and support their social, emotional, and academic growth through active, hands-on learning and student participation in decision-making. The ideal candidate will nurture relationships, incorporate project-based learning, and provide diverse and meaningful educational experiences. Strong communication, a reflective approach, and collaborative problem-solving within a large Professional Learning Team are essential qualities for success in our community.

Qualifications:

The Literacy Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Instructional Leadership & Coaching: Provide high-quality, differentiated coaching to staff; deliver professional development on the latest research-based literacy strategies.
  • MTSS & Student Support: Oversee the school's multi-tiered academic support systems, monitor student progress, and occasionally provide short-term, targeted interventions.
  • Title I Coordination: Lead building-wide Title I services, manage student eligibility lists, supervise tutoring staff, and partner with the district coordinator to meet federal grant specs.
  • Data & Assessment: Manage school-wide benchmark, formative, and summative testing; analyze data to guide tiered instruction and placement (including Kindergarten screening).
  • School & District Collaboration: Serve on the Building Leadership Team, align initiatives with the Assistant Superintendent and district coordinators, and build the school's literacy budget.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certification: Current New Hampshire educator certification, and certifiable as a Reading and Writing Specialist in NH.
  • Education: Master's degree in Reading or a closely related field required; Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (C.A.G.S.) is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a deep commitment to the Merrimack School District's core values.

This position if covered by the Merrimack Teachers Association (MTA) and works a 186 day contract plus 15 additional days throughout the summer.
