Litigation Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate with 2–3 years of experience to join a growing and dynamic litigation practice in San Diego. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney looking to gain hands-on litigation experience, work closely with experienced litigators, and take on meaningful responsibility early in their career.

The ideal candidate will possess strong research, writing, and analytical skills and be comfortable supporting all phases of civil litigation, from case assessment through trial preparation.

Responsibilities

• Support partners and senior attorneys throughout all stages of civil litigation
• Assist with case assessment, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on substantive legal issues
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related filings
• Manage case deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and procedural requirements
• Participate in client interviews, witness preparation, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation
• Collaborate closely with litigation teams on case strategy and client service

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of civil litigation experience
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Strong organizational and case management abilities
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Desire to take on increasing responsibility and direct client interaction
• California Bar admission required

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $150,000 – $170,000
• Annual performance-based and billable hours bonuses
• Mainly Remote – Must reside in California!
