Litigation Associate, Insurance Defense

Pay: $120,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year

Location: This is a hybrid-flexible opportunity based in downtown Chicago, IL, combining valuable in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility.

Note: Candidates must have at least 2 years of insurance defense litigation experience, an active Illinois Bar license, and a JD from an accredited law school.

Job Description

• Manage insurance defense litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Take and defend depositions
• Attend court appearances, mediations, and settlement conferences
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal briefs, and other litigation documents
• Manage discovery and contribute to case strategy development
• Perform legal research and analysis on complex litigation issues
• Maintain regular client communication and provide clear case reporting
• Independently manage deadlines, priorities, and multiple active matters
• Collaborate with partners and colleagues on litigation strategy and case development

Qualifications

• 2+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
• Active admission to the Illinois Bar
• JD from an accredited law school
• Strong legal writing, research, and communication skills
• Ability to independently manage litigation matters while working collaboratively
• Professional negligence, medical malpractice, or construction litigation experience is preferred
• Michigan, Indiana, or Wisconsin Bar admission is a plus
