We are a small litigation firm looking for an experienced associate who enjoys being a lawyer but may be increasingly worn down by the traditional billable-hour grind, rigid office expectations, and the feeling that professional success has to come at the expense of everything outside of work.

We believe there is a better way to practice.

Our goal is to give experienced associates the mentoring, support and collaborative approach that allows you to grow professionally, without giving up your commitment and passion for the people and commitments vital to your life outside of work. We do this by providing flexibility over how much you want to work as well as where and when you do it, and the support of everyone, because we believe the only way to have a better professional life is to have the commitment of everyone to making it happen.

This is not a position where you will simply be handed files and left alone. Nor is it a position where every decision needs to pass through multiple layers of review. We want to find the space in between.

The Lawyer We Are Looking For

You already have litigation experience and a foundation of skills. You may have taken depositions, argued motions, worked with experts, evaluated cases, reported to clients, negotiated settlements, or prepared cases for trial.

\n

We want to build on what you already do well.

\n

\n

At the same time, we want to identify the parts of litigation where you want more experience and actively help you develop those skills, working with experienced attorneys available to prepare with you, supervise you, and provide meaningful feedback. The objective is not simply to make you more productive. It is to make you a better and more complete lawyer -- which includes having the support so that your professional life doesn't swallow up your life outside of the office.

Necessary Qualifications:

• Virginia or Maryland Barred (D.C. is a plus);

• A minimum of 2 years of litigation experience (insurance defense preferred)
