Be part of a team that sets the standard for legal representation in the insurance industryWhat You'll Do:Manage civil litigation for American Family and our insureds, following established guidelines and the highest ethical standardsAnalyze files as litigation progresses as well as risk to the company. Evaluate cases and seek settlement as necessaryDraft all necessary pleadings, papers and briefs to advance litigation activities at the trial or appellate level. Conduct necessary research in support of drafting activitiesAdvocate client position in all forums (state court, alternative dispute resolution, administrative tribunals and regulatory hearings) and circumstances, both formal and informalNegotiate effectively in the resolution of all issuesStay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyze how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and enforceability of the various policy provisionsMay develop areas of specialty practice (e.g. special property, workers' compensation, environmental law, commercial coverage)Who We're Looking For:Experienced attorneys passionate about making a difference for clients and communitiesProfessionals eager to grow, learn, and contribute to a dynamic legal teamIndividuals committed to excellence, integrity, and collaborationWhat we need from you:Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or serviceDemonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnessesDemonstrated litigation experienceSolid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practiceSolid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance lawAdmitted to the IL state barJuris DoctorAdditional InformationTo ensure a strong start, all employees participate in our New Employee Orientation during their first week.
