Platt Richmond is seeking a Litigation Associate to join our growing practice. This role is designed for someone responsible for a broad range of commercial litigation matters both in Texas and across the country including contract, fraud, intellectual property, defamation, real estate, creditor’s rights, class action defense and other business disputes. This role requires varied knowledge of the litigation process in state and federal courts and excellent base litigation skills including legal research, writing, strategy development, hearings, depositions, and trial preparation. This role will work closely with other partners, associate attorneys and paralegals.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
attend to, and manage time over, caseloads and assist in all facets of the litigation practice
Manage and delegate appropriate tasks to paralegals
Take ownership of cases and tasks to drive cases forward
Assist partners on a broad range of commercial litigation cases
Prepare motions, discovery and legal briefs
Conduct legal due diligence, including fact checking and expert depositions
Qualifications:
3+ years of commercial litigation experience involving business disputes and causes of action
Experience litigating commercial disputes in both State and Federal Courts. Experience with creditor’s rights litigation and appeals are preferred but not required
Strong experience drafting motions, including Temporary Restraining Orders, Motions for Summary Judgment, Pretrial Motions, and Motions relating to discovery disputes.
Extensive experience drafting and managing varied and tailored discovery over a wide variety of cases
Strong attention to detail
Intellectual curiosity and genuine interest in projects, rather than a “finish the task and forget about it” approach
Excellent communication and grammatical skills, both verbal and written
Genuine, authentic personality
Team player; takes direction well; receptive to constructive feedback
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
