Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 per year
A bit about us:
Our client is a well established, full service law firm with more than a century of history serving businesses, insurers, and individuals throughout the Mid Atlantic region. With offices across Maryland and Virginia, the firm has built a reputation for deep bench strength across commercial litigation, insurance defense and coverage, maritime and transportation, surety, construction, employment, and corporate matters.
The firm is recognized nationally for its insurance practice, holding membership in a respected national network of insurance defense firms and a listing among the country's leading directories of insurance defense counsel. Its litigation team represents major insurance carriers and self insured corporations, including multi state businesses, on matters spanning general liability, property and casualty, professional liability, construction defect, and coverage disputes.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to join a firm where insurance defense work is a core institutional strength, not a side practice. Attorneys here get early, hands on case ownership rather than sitting on the sidelines of large litigation teams, and they work directly with sophisticated carrier and corporate clients from day one.
Highlights include:
A firm with a genuine long term identity and low attorney turnover, offering the stability that is increasingly rare in the current legal market
Direct client contact and real courtroom exposure, including depositions, motions practice, and trial work, rather than years of purely back office discovery tasks
A collegial, team oriented culture where partners are accessible and invested in associate development
Competitive compensation and benefits, with a billable expectation that reflects a sustainable, non "big law churn" model
Involvement in a broad mix of matter types, personal injury and casualty defense, bad faith claims, subrogation, products liability, and coverage litigation, which builds a well rounded and marketable skill set
A firm actively investing in growth, creating room for attorneys to build a book of business and take on leadership roles over time
Job Details
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the relevant state (additional bar admissions a plus)
Approximately 2 to 7 years of civil litigation experience, ideally including insurance defense, general liability, property and casualty, or coverage work
Demonstrated experience managing a litigation caseload independently, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, and communicating directly with claims professionals
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Comfort working directly with insurance carrier clients and adjusting to the pace and reporting expectations of claims driven work
A collaborative mindset and interest in long term growth within a firm rather than a transactional, short term role
Prior exposure to any of the following is a plus: subrogation, bad faith litigation, products liability, construction defect, or maritime and transportation claims
