Litigation Legal Assistant

Del Mar, CA (Hybrid) Salary: Up to $110,000 + Bonus & Excellent Benefits

A highly respected law firm in Del Mar, is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support a busy team of attorneys within the firm's Business Litigation and Labor & Employment Practice Groups. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, high-performing environment and is committed to delivering exceptional client service.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of litigation experience, strong knowledge of California and Federal court procedures, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal practice.

Position Overview

As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to a team of attorneys, helping manage active matters from case inception through trial. You will play a critical role in ensuring deadlines are met, filings are accurate, and client matters are handled efficiently and professionally.

This position is hybrid, with a preference for candidates who enjoy working in the office and collaborating closely with attorneys and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, revise, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery, trial materials, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate and maintain attorney calendars, court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings, and travel arrangements.
  • Prepare and file documents in California Superior Courts, Federal Courts, and appellate courts in accordance with applicable rules and procedures.
  • Manage litigation support tasks related to document production, e-discovery, and case management.
  • Open new client matters, conduct conflict checks, prepare engagement documentation, and maintain electronic and physical case files.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, court personnel, opposing counsel, clients, and vendors.
  • Review all work product for accuracy, grammar, formatting, and compliance with firm standards before attorney review and final submission.
  • Monitor filing deadlines and proactively manage attorney schedules to ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and client service.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of litigation legal assistant experience in a law firm environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of California Superior Court and Federal Court rules and filing procedures.
  • Experience with document production and e-discovery.
  • Excellent organizational, proofreading, spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities independently.
  • Strong time management and deadline management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Proficiency with:

Preferred

  • Experience supporting Labor & Employment attorneys.
  • Experience in a large or mid-sized law firm environment.
  • NetDocuments (NetDocs) experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or some college coursework.
  • Legal secretarial certification or ABA-approved paralegal certification.
  • Notary Public commission.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid schedule with a minimum of four days per week in the office.

  • Salary up to $110,000
