Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Bankruptcy Paralegal for a highly respected, full-service business law firm with a sophisticated bankruptcy and insolvency practice. This is a fully onsite opportunity based in Sherman Oaks, California.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our client is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal to support a growing bankruptcy and insolvency practice led by a senior partner. This role provides substantive support throughout all phases of complex bankruptcy matters, including federal court filings, case management, document preparation, claims administration, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate has recent hands-on bankruptcy experience, exceptional organizational skills, and thrives in a fast-paced law firm environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare, review, and electronically file bankruptcy pleadings, motions, proofs of claim, and other legal documents in federal bankruptcy courts using PACER/CM-ECF
Manage bankruptcy case files, monitor deadlines, hearings, claims bar dates, and filing requirements while ensuring compliance with federal and local bankruptcy rules
Gather information from creditors, debtors, trustees, court personnel, and other parties while coordinating ongoing case activity and maintaining organized electronic files
Draft correspondence, memoranda, reports, and bankruptcy-related documents while preparing exhibits and hearing materials for court proceedings
Conduct substantive bankruptcy case support, including reviewing credit reports, preparing claims documentation, and assisting attorneys throughout Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Subchapter V, and Chapter 13 matters
Collaborate with attorneys, finance, operations, vendors, and clients regarding billing, document management, case updates, and day-to-day practice support
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of recent bankruptcy paralegal experience within a law firm environment
Paralegal certificate required
Strong knowledge of federal bankruptcy procedures, local bankruptcy rules, PACER/CM-ECF, bankruptcy calendaring, and court filing procedures
Experience supporting Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Subchapter V, and/or Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, legal document management systems, and legal research platforms; familiarity with Westlaw, Lexis, CSDisco, or Everlaw is a plus
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
