DescriptionMcAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips, P.A. (MVP Law) is looking for a Litigation Paralegal to join our Kansas City, Kansas, office to help us meet the needs of our growing practice. We are looking for curious, intelligent, and creative individuals to join our firm and be part of our fast-paced and rewarding environment as we continue to redefine the law firm experience and forge our own path to the meet the needs of our clients and employees, as we have been doing since 1901.Our Paralegals assist our Attorneys with managing billable work, scheduling, file coordination, opening and/or closing files, summarizing documents for review and daily organizational needs relative to our cases in order to allow our attorneys to use their billable time effectively. They operate at a high degree of technical proficiency, have a passion for organization and efficiency and are solution-oriented. Candidates should work well both independently and collaboratively within a team to assist our attorneys in managing the billable work of the firm.Roles & ResponsibilitiesResponsible for all billable tasks: medical records, discovery, etc.Drafts various legal documents for attorney reviewRequests, follows-up on, and organizes medical record filesE-File documents within appropriate court filing systems (Kansas City)Manages and organizes case filesResearches and analyzes case dataDrafts discoveryCommunicates with outside counsel, physicians, court personnel and other expertsBills time contemporaneouslyAssists attorneys with case-related requestsResponds to record and legal documentation requestsAnswers phone calls, takes messages or transfers calls to appropriate partiesWorks with highly confidential information and always maintains utmost confidentialityActs in a stewardship capacity for MVP, works as a genuine, confident, functional member of the team, is hardworking with the ability to be innovative and firm focused in alignment with our core valuesOther duties as assignedWith a strong focus on our beliefs – RESPECT EVERYONE, REAL RELATIONSHIPS, and REPUTATION - we build trust and confidence and challenge the status quo through knowledge, innovation, and attentiveness.
