Overview

A mission-driven law firm is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join its Washington, D.C. office. This role provides comprehensive litigation support to attorneys in federal and state matters, including document management, discovery, trial preparation, and court filings. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Bluebook, cite-check, proofread, and format legal briefs and filings

  • Collect, organize, analyze, and produce documents in response to discovery requests

  • Maintain centralized repositories of factual and case-related information

  • Prepare pleadings, discovery requests, and discovery responses under attorney supervision

  • File and e-file pleadings in federal and state courts

  • Draft and coordinate service of subpoenas in state and federal courts

  • Maintain and manage litigation files, including electronic databases and document systems

  • Provide case management support, including monitoring deadlines, court calendars, and docket activity

  • Conduct paper and electronic docket research

  • Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, witnesses, court personnel, and opposing counsel

  • Schedule and prepare for depositions

  • Prepare paper and electronic materials for court submissions, including binders, tables of contents, and delivery coordination

  • Coordinate and support attorney admissions to courts

  • Administer and troubleshoot legal software subscriptions and system access

  • Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including trial exhibits, courtroom technology, and logistics

  • Travel to attend hearings and trials as required

  • Work overtime as needed to support litigation demands

  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Minimum of three years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm required

  • Strong Bluebook and cite-checking skills required

  • Trial experience required

  • Paralegal certificate preferred

  • Strong interest or background in politics preferred

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state statutes, court rules, procedures, and evidence requirements

  • Proficiency with Westlaw, PACER, and Microsoft Office required

  • Familiarity with document management systems and PDF editing tools preferred

  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills

  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and able to work collaboratively in a mission-focused environment

  • Willingness and ability to travel for in-state and out-of-state trials lasting one or more weeks

  • Flexibility to work overtime as required
