Litigation Special Counsel
Locations: Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, or Tampa, Florida
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Litigation Special Counsel with 3 to 7 years of litigation experience to join its Construction Practice Group. This is a full time, non partner track position supporting a high volume practice focused on single family housing matters.This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who is confident managing cases independently and thrives in a fast paced litigation environment. Many matters proceed through arbitration rather than circuit court, requiring strong organizational skills, self motivation, and the ability to handle files autonomously.
Responsibilities:- Manage all phases of litigation from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents
- Conduct legal research and prepare written advocacy materials
- Handle and defend depositions
- Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Negotiate settlements and assist with dispute resolution strategy
- Work closely with paralegals and litigation support staff
Qualifications:- 3 to 7 years of litigation experience required
- Experience with insurance claims, construction defect, design defect, or related litigation strongly preferred
- Prior mediation and arbitration experience preferred
- Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Proven ability to manage a large caseload independently
- Trial and deposition experience preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills required
- Experience supervising support staff or paralegals is a plus
- JD from an ABA approved law school required
- Active membership and good standing with the Florida Bar required
Compensation:- Expected compensation starts around $140,000 and will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
