Portland Public Schools: Little Raiders GSRP Lead Teacher
Portland Public Schools' seeks an innovative and passionate education professional to join our preschool team to enhance the education experience for our students enrolled in Little Raiders Great Start Readiness Program at Portland Public Schools.
The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:
- Exceptional communication, analysis, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Understanding of, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS initiatives
- Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment, common sense, and a calm demeanor
- Impeccable character, a good sense of humor, and compassion for students, families, and staff
- Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning practices
- Willingness to undertake extra-curricular assignments
Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Child Development or Early Child Development with specialization in preschool teaching.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Early Childhood Endorsement
- Strong base in early childhood, curriculum, and conscious discipline
- Ability to use assessments and student data to drive meaningful instruction
- Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and district colleagues
- Demonstrated ability to sustain and improve student achievement outcomes
- Willingness to contribute to a safe school climate of high expectations and strong collaboration, high staff and student morale, and positive community involvement
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement and monitor curriculum.
- Engage parents in an advisory capacity related to implementation of the program.
- Develop a working relationship with administrators, support staff, teachers, volunteers and students.
- Engage with children in all areas of the program and parts of the day.
- Work collaboratively and communicate with teaching team partner regarding children's behavior and progress.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records.
- Follow written IEP and support plans and ensure requirements of IEP are followed in relation.
- Assist children with personal health care needs, including toileting.
- Participate in training and ongoing professional development.
- Ability to plan, prepare materials, and carry out activities that are fun, educational, and foster personal-social, physical, and academic skills.
- Ability to maintain a safe and secure learning environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with young children and their families.
- Ability to work well with diverse families.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
- Self-directedness and initiative when given a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Ability to pass a Comprehensive background check per DHHS licensing
- Other duties as assigned
Position Details:

- Calendar: As per District Preschool Calendar
- Compensation: In accordance with Preschool agreement
