Location: Sag Harbor, New York
Schedule: Monday–Friday with flexibility as needed
Compensation: $120,000–$130,000+ annually, commensurate with experience

An exceptional family of four—soon to be five—is seeking a compassionate, engaging, and experienced Occupational Therapist/Educator to provide individualized support for their bright and lovable seven-year-old son with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The family is looking for a dedicated professional who is passionate about helping children build confidence, independence, emotional regulation, and life skills through a relationship-based approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized educational and developmental support tailored to the child's unique strengths and needs.
  • Utilize therapeutic and educational strategies to foster emotional regulation, executive functioning, social skills, and independence.
  • Implement play-based, child-led learning experiences that encourage engagement, confidence, and continued growth.
  • Support daily routines, homework, and educational enrichment.
  • Collaborate closely with parents and other professionals involved in the child's care to ensure consistency across environments.
  • Create engaging activities that promote communication, sensory integration, problem-solving, and self-help skills.
  • Encourage outdoor play, community outings, and age-appropriate social experiences.
  • Maintain open communication with the family regarding progress, observations, and developmental goals.
  • Travel with the family on occasion as needed.

Ideal Candidate

  • Occupational Therapist, Special Educator, Child Development Specialist, or similarly qualified professional.
  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • DIR/Floortime experience, certification, or a strong working knowledge is highly preferred.
  • Warm, patient, calm, and highly engaging personality.
  • Passionate about relationship-based learning and supporting each child's individual developmental journey.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Flexible, proactive, and comfortable working within a private household environment.
  • Comfortable traveling occasionally with the family.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience working with school-aged children.
  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder required.
  • DIR/Floortime training or experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Excellent professional and personal references.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Monday through Friday schedule with flexibility based on the family's needs.
  • Limited travel throughout the year.
  • Competitive annual salary of $120,000–$130,000+, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Private live-in accommodations provided.
