    Position Overview MLSD is seeking a passionate and skilled Middle School Special Education Teacher committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student is valued and feels a deep sense of belonging. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a thorou gh understanding of the Individualized Education Program IEP process and the Multi -Tiered Systems of Support MTSS framework. This educator will serve as a collaborative partner supporting not only students but also classroom teachers and paraeducators to ensure academic and behavioral success for all learners and has belief that every student is capable of achieving a high level of learning. As a leader in inclusion and equity the Special Education Teacher will foster a culture of high expectations belonging and resilience. Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers school psychologists speech occupational and physical therapists as well as other building and district staff to promote student success. 2. Design and implement Individualized Education Programs IEPs gr ounded in high expect ations and student strengths. 3. Complete student assessments for those referred to special education services. 4. Partner with classroom teachers and instructional coaches to design and implement researchevidence -based interventions . 5. Work with Lead C o-Teachers grade -level teams and instructional support staff to align instruction with curriculum essential standards and universally design lessons to student needs in inclusive settings. 6. Formally and informally assess student learning to create comp rehensive and responsive learning programs. 7. Ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place across all learning environments general education resource rooms small group settings. 8. Foster strong family partnerships encouraging pare ntal involvement in their childs education. 9. Maintain accurate and compliant student records documenting progress attendance and adherence to special education laws working within IEP online. 10. Serve as a proactive member of the Intervention Team advo cating for success for all students. 11. Complete all required state federal and district reports including IEPs Progress reports Behavioral Intervention Plans BIP and evaluations in a timely manner. 12. Communicate regularly and effectively with families responding to concerns and keeping them informed. 13. Participate in instructional planning including writing daily lesson plans tailored to student needs. 14. Collaborate in Professional Learning Communities PLCs to develop common assessments and interventions. 15. Work with the MTSS Team to implement and track the progress of targeted supports. 16. Promote a positive respectful classroom climate using appropriate behavior management strategies. 17. Exhibit enthusiasm optimism and a growth mindset in teaching and learning. 18. Set and uphold high expectations for student achievement utilizing all available resources for academic growth. 19. Complete Right Response Training and maintain current certification status.
