Summary


The Loan Accounting Analyst I is responsible for loan servicing by analyzing general ledger activity, maintaining account records, and processing payments with accuracy and timeliness. The role focuses on reconciling transactions, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. The Analyst collaborates with internal teams and external partners to support reporting and drive process improvements through automation.


Responsibilities


+ Reconcile payment activity, research and resolve discrepancies, and correct misapplied or returned payments.

+ Prepare, balance, and maintain daily reports, payment batches, and transaction records for audit and compliance.

+ Communicate with borrowers, branches, and internal teams to resolve payment issues and account inquiries.

+ Apply loan payments to customer accounts with accuracy and attention to detail.

+ Ensure all payment processing and account adjustments comply with company policies and applicable regulations (e.g., FDCPA, Fair Credit Reporting Act).

+ Assist with payoff requests, payment adjustments, and loan modifications after securing required approvals.

+ Maintain borrowing base loans and related ticklers, and review and approve advances for construction loans and reserve accounts.

+ Prepare and review payoff quotes for commercial and business loans.

+ Analyze loan-related general ledger accounts and prepare monthly fee income reports.

+ Execute system maintenance, post special transactions (charge-offs, OREO, etc.), and verify outgoing loan-related wires.

+ Conduct reporting and transaction processing for consumer loan collection agencies and SBA-guaranteed loans.

+ Generate and analyze ad-hoc and scheduled reports.

+ Utilize RPA tools to automate repetitive tasks and monitor process accuracy.

+ Participate in process improvement initiatives and projects to enhance loan operations.

+ Complete monthly training in a timely manner to ensure knowledge of bank regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.

+ Other specified duties as assigned.


Skills


+ Strong attention to detail and ability to complete work accurately.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and loan origination systems (e.g. DL4, nCino).

+ Familiarity with RPA platforms (e.g. UiPath) and AI-driven tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot).


Education & Experience


+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; or experience in loan analysis, financial services, or banking operations.

+ Experience in commercial loan operations or financial services


Compensation & Benefits


The Loan Accounting Analyst I position pays a minimum of $25.00 per hour.

Physical Requirements


The work environment is typical of a standard office or retail banking setting. The position is sedentary, involving sitting most of the workday; however, the position will involve moving about the workspace to reach entrances/exits, restrooms, conference rooms, or other areas within the work environment. Reaching may be required involving the ability to move arms in any direction. Office equipment, such as a computer and telephone, will be used requiring the ability to manipulate a keyboard, mouse, and/or keypad. The ability to decipher a computer screen or written documents is necessary. The ability to express or exchange ideas; impart information to clients, coworkers, or the public; or to convey detailed or important instructions; is required. The ability to receive and understand detailed information shared through oral or written communication is required. Position requires lifting and/or the exerting of up to 10 pounds of force.
