Mortgage Closing Representative

Location: Elmwood Park, New Jersey

Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Type: Temp-to-Permanent | Immediate Need

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Closing Representative to join our client's Home Finance team. This position is responsible for preparing closing packages and completing the procedures necessary to close and fund residential mortgage loans in accordance with Bank and investor requirements.

The Mortgage Closing Representative will coordinate first mortgage, home equity, and mortgage modification closings, working closely with borrowers, attorneys, closing agents, processors, underwriters, and internal lending and accounting teams.

This is a deadline-driven opportunity requiring exceptional attention to detail, organization, communication skills, and knowledge of mortgage closing regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate residential mortgage, home equity, and modification closings.

  • Coordinate with processing, underwriting, and borrowers to obtain outstanding closing conditions, insurance policies, certifications, and required documentation.

  • Review loan files to ensure required fees have been received and properly deposited.

  • Work with Bank review attorneys and closing agents/attorneys to clear loans for closing and schedule closing dates.

  • Monitor rate locks, credit documents, commitment expiration dates, and other critical deadlines.

  • Prepare calculations and coordinate first mortgage modification closings.

  • Prepare and email final closing packages, including Bank-specific documentation, to closing agents.

  • Coordinate loan funding with Loan Administration and Accounting.

  • Track completed loans and upload closing information into the Bank's loan servicing system.

  • Ensure loan closings comply with Bank and investor policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling non-public personal and financial information.

  • Support departmental lending volume and other Home Finance initiatives as assigned.

  • Work overtime as needed during periods of high loan volume.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of mortgage closing or legal closing experience required.

  • Previous mortgage banking experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with residential mortgage, home equity, and/or mortgage modification closings preferred.

  • Working knowledge of mortgage regulations, including:

  • TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID)

  • Fair Housing Act (FHA)

  • Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA)

  • Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)

  • Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)

  • Dodd-Frank Act requirements

  • Previous lending, mortgage processing, underwriting, or paralegal experience is a plus.

  • Proficiency with loan origination systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

  • Familiarity with MortgagebotLOS is a plus.

  • Commercial and investment property lending experience is a plus.
