About the Job

The School of Public Health division of Health Policy and Management is seeking applications for a Temporary Local Community Liaison (0001 Temporary/Casual) in the Silver Bay Minnesota area.

Starting Pay is dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity: $30.00-$35.00 per hour.

Work Arrangements:

This position is local to the Silver Bay MN area, requiring travel to sites in and around the Silver Bay, MN area. Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel locally for in-home device delivery and setup. The position will be reimbursed for mileage.

The successful candidate will be provided University-configured equipment and supportive technology tools, however, they are expected to have access to a reliable internet connection for duties undertaken remotely. Work arrangements will be discussed during the interview.

Duration: The candidate will work in a Casual capacity no more than 14 hours per week. The duration could be up to 6-9 months if working closer to 10 hours per week.

Schedule: Ability to maintain a somewhat flexible work schedule, including occasional evening and weekend hours to meet the program participant needs and availability.

Summary of Job:

The Local Community Liaison provides local support for a research study in the Silver Bay, MN, area involving a telehealth medication device ("Hub"). The telehealth device manages medication and provides access to pharmacy support services. Supporting up to 24 study participants, this role manages Hub delivery, assists with setup, and conducts participant training, including use of the device, mobile app, and medication loading.

The Liaison works closely with the University of Minnesota study team and other community partners to support participants over a 6-9 month study period. The role includes participant check-ins, responding to questions, assisting with data or survey collection as needed, and contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s. The Liaison works independently with regular communication and serves as the primary non-clinical technical resource for participants (no nursing care or medical advice).

Duties/Responsibilities:

80% In-person (Silver Bay MN area) coordination with study participants to deliver, set up, and train on the telehealth device; conduct in person or remote check-ins as assigned

10% Ongoing communication with the study team, including meetings, status updates, and attendance at local recruitment or study information events as available

5% Preview, pre-test, and become familiar with the Hub and related technology to effectively assist participants

5% Other duties as assigned, including ad hoc participant follow-up and serving as backup support for other team members

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

High school Diploma or equivalent

Ability to work independently while maintaining frequent communication with a remote research team

Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support individuals with varying levels of technical comfort

Basic proficiency with mobile apps, connected devices, and troubleshooting common technical issues

Effective organizational skills and attention to detail

Commitment to participant privacy and confidentiality

Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS/BA in a related field and 2 years experience or a combination of 6 years.

Experience providing technical support, training, or hands-on assistance with digital or connected devices

Experience working in community-based, healthcare, or research settings

Familiarity with research protocols or assisting with data and survey collection

Experience participating in or supporting recruitment or community outreach events
