Job Summary:
Assists in providing dental services, including preparing patients for exams and treatments, sterilizing instruments, maintaining equipment, mixing amalgams, cements, and composites, taking dental x-rays, maintaining records, and performing assigned lab procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by a course of study consisting of at least 600 instructional hours at an approved school for Dental Assistants.
• OR a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by a course of study consisting of at least 300 instructional hours at an approved school for Dental Assistants plus six (6) months of full-time satisfactory experience as a Dental Assistant performing all of the following duties: taking, developing, and mounting dental radiographs, assisting the dentist chairside, and sterilizing dental instruments using an autoclave.
• OR a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus one (1) year of full-time satisfactory experience as a Dental Assistant performing the duties described above.
• OR a satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or GED.
• Experience as a receptionist or clerk in a dentist's office is not acceptable toward meeting the qualification requirements.
