Special Education Teacher – Secondary (Self-Contained Classroom)


Schedule: Traditional K-12 School Hours
Contract Length: 40 Weeks


Position Overview

Seeking a Special Education Teacher to work with secondary school students in a self-contained classroom. Responsibilities include managing special education services, developing and implementing IEPs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Active (or eligible) Special Education teaching license/endorsement in the appropriate subject area
  • Experience developing and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and instructional strategies for diverse learners

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs
  • Serve as a case manager for assigned students
  • Conduct and facilitate IEP meetings
  • Create progress reports and required special education documentation
  • Develop behavior intervention plans as needed
  • Supervise and support paraprofessionals and other assigned staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality student services
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district policies
