Position Overview
Seeking a Special Education Teacher to work with secondary school students in a self-contained classroom. Responsibilities include managing special education services, developing and implementing IEPs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Active (or eligible) Special Education teaching license/endorsement in the appropriate subject area
- Experience developing and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- Knowledge of assistive technology and instructional strategies for diverse learners
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs
- Serve as a case manager for assigned students
- Conduct and facilitate IEP meetings
- Create progress reports and required special education documentation
- Develop behavior intervention plans as needed
- Supervise and support paraprofessionals and other assigned staff
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality student services
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district policies
