Special Education Teacher – Secondary (Self-Contained Classroom)
Position: Special Education Teacher Setting: Secondary School – Self-Contained Classroom Schedule: Traditional K–12 School Hours Contract: 40 Weeks
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Active or eligible state teaching license
Appropriate Special Education endorsement
Experience developing and implementing IEPs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Knowledge of assistive technology and differentiated instruction
Responsibilities
Provide special education services to students in a self-contained secondary classroom.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Serve as case manager and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings.
Develop behavior intervention plans and monitor student progress.
Prepare required documentation, progress reports, and service records.
Collaborate with parents, administrators, therapists, and other school staff.
Supervise and support paraprofessionals and other assigned personnel.
Maintain accurate documentation and complete district billing requirements.
Utilize research-based instructional strategies and assistive technology to support student success.
